A man who fought off a robber on Muni was stabbed during the morning rush hour on Wednesday, police said.

The commute of Muni rider heading inbound on the 49-Van Ness/Mission took a turn for the worse around 7:45 a.m., when someone tried to steal his bag near Van Ness Avenue and Market. But the 37-year-old man didn’t want the male suspect to make off with his bag of paperwork and fought back, police said Thursday.

As a tug-of-war ensued, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the abdomen. He fled the bus, making off with the knife and victim’s bag.

The victim was sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. As of Thursday afternoon, police have not made an arrest or identified a suspect.
