Separate shootings that left two people injured on Tuesday marked the third Mission District shooting in one week, police said Wednesday.

A 33-year-old woman was shot outside of a home on 23rd and Hampshire streets around 11:45 a.m. After a passerby called 911, the woman was transported to the hospital — just one block away — with life-threatening injuries.

No suspect has been identified or arrested. Police were not immediately available Wednesday afternoon to answer whether it was a targeted shooting.

The second shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on 16th and Shotwell streets. A 19-year-old man was waiting at a stoplight while in a car when two suspects described as 20-year-old men pulled up in the car and shot him.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  Police have not arrested a suspect as of Wednesday afternoon.

Another shooting occurred on Sunday around 10 p.m., when a man in a gray sedan drove up to a 50-year-old man standing on the corner of 24th and Folsom streets. The suspect shot the man in the leg, sending him to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A few weeks earlier on July 24, a double shooting at 16th and Mission streets killed 34-year-old Hubert Coleman Jr. and injured another. A triple shooting near 17th and Mission streets on June 30 killed one and injured two others.

Do the shootings in the Mission this summer say anything different than previous summers? A 2017 quarterly incident report by the San Francisco Police Department reported one shooting in July, six in August, and five in September under the Mission Station.

A 2018 quarterly incident report for the same period has not yet been released but the station has reported two shootings in May and five shootings in June. Compared to the same time in 2017, one shooting occurred in May and four occurred in June.
