It's that time of year again. This Sunday, a crowd of 25,000 is expected to gather at Golden Gate Park to begin a 6.2-mile trek across the city to raise millions for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and other Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations.
The 26th Annual SF AIDS Walk claims the money raised by walkers will help the foundation reduce HIV infections by 50 percent in 2015, educate people about their HIV status, and ensure that HIV-positive people get the all the help they need.
Sunday's opening ceremony starts at 9:45 a.m. on the stage in Sharon Meadow. There will be plenty of celebrities to spot, including ABC-7's Dan Ashley, Barrett Foa of NCIS, Glee's Dot-Marie Jones, Adam Shankman of Dancing with the Stars, and SF Aids Foundation CEO Neil Giuliano, who will speak at the ceremony.
