SFPD Officer’s Wife Missing After Las Vegas Shooting

(Rachael Garner/S.F. Examiner)

UPDATE: Stacee Etcheber is one of at least 59 people killed in the Las Vegas shooting Sunday night, San Francisco police say.

“With heavy hearts, the San Francisco Police Department today mourns the passing of Stacee Etcheber,” SFPD Chief William Scott says in a statement. “Stacee was taken in a senseless act of violence as her husband, SFPD Officer Vinnie Etcheber, heroically rushed to aid shooting victims in Las Vegas on Sunday.”

Stacee, a hairstylist in Marin County, leaves behind two young children.

In the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting Sunday night,  an off-duty San Francisco police officer is unable to find his wife, who attended the event.

The brother of Officer Vincent Etcheber, Al Etcheber, posted on Facebook Monday morning a call to help find his sister-in-law, Stacee Etcheber, who did not have her phone or ID on her when the couple was separated. Officer Etcheber was at the concert and helped get injured victims to the hospital, his brother also stated.

“My brother Vin was at the concert in Vegas, he was separated from his wife during all the chaos,” Al says on Facebook. “He helped the injured to the hospital. Hope they connect soon.”

A shooter killed least 58 people and injured more than 500 at a country music festival by Mandalay Bay.

In a statement, Mayor Ed Lee says,”We are sending our deepest condolences and sympathies to the hundreds of families affected by this senseless act of gun violence.”

San Francisco police did not receive an update on Officer Etcheber or his wife’s status by Monday afternoon.
