The enormous conflagration in North Beach wasn’t the only notable fire this weekend. An unknown man died in a blaze at an adult bookstore in SoMa early Saturday morning, police said Monday.

San Francisco firefighters responded to the blaze around 2:15 a.m., where they found a deceased man inside the Liberty Books, an adult bookstore on Sixth and Mission streets that lacks a website or any online presence. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Chris Baker, a Liberty Books employee, confirmed the fire occurred inside the store at 111 Sixth St., but says he doesn’t know who the man was. The San Francisco medical examiner’s office did not have a name available to the public on Monday afternoon.

The store, also known as “Don’s of Sixth Street,” remained open on Monday but with wood panels as windows until long-term repairs can be made. San Francisco fire officials say the building caused moderate damage, Bay City News reports, while Baker says the store has “major damage.”

The fire is under investigation.
