UPDATE, 10:30 a.m.: SFPD reports that the “incident has been deemed safe.” Streets are now open and Muni and BART service will continue.

Muni and BART trains were not running through Civic Center Station Friday morning, in the wake of a bomb scare. A “suspicious package” is said to have been spotted on the platform shortly after 9:30 a.m.

I was on an inbound N Judah and they let us out at Church. The driver said it was due to a bomb threat,” Muni rider Robby King told SF Weekly.

Our own Music Editor Jessie Schiewe was caught up in the chaos at Embarcadero Station. She heard an announcement saying that due to police activity, incoming trains have been halted from the Easy Bay, and all the trains already in San Francisco are stopped at Montgomery.

Commuters are advised to use surface routes along Market Street, says the SFMTA.
