One of the main roads leading out of the city was shut down for hours Monday morning, as police investigated a collision where one person died.

The crash occurred around 3 a.m. near the intersection of California Street and Park Presidio, when a Chevy truck and a Nissan sedan collided. The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead and the scene, and has not yet been identified. Meanwhile, two men from the Chevy — one 39, the other 29 years old — were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The details of the collision are still being investigated by SFPD Traffic Collision Investigation Unit, but early reports state that “impairment may be a factor in this collision.”

The incident was sadly not the only vehicular-fatality of the weekend. On Sunday morning, Lyft driver Syed Waseem Ali and his passenger — identified by KTVU as 49-year-old Sela Ruth Araujo de Henriquez — were killed after a Mercedes ran a red light at Third Street and Paul Avenue and hit their vehicle. The suspect is still at large.
