M83, the project of French musician Anthony Gonzalez, hails from the port city of Antibes, not Paris, the City of Lights. The band's stage show, however, would have you believe that this band came from a prismatic constellation. Like a Dan Flavin fluorescent sculpture basking in the opalescent flush of pixel art, M83's multi-piece backdrop cycles and pulsates with iridescent urgency. The music itself is a blend of epic synth cascades, saturating bass, crescendos of percussion, and drenching guitar chime, augmented by throaty female vocals.
