There is one meeting happening this week. On Tuesday, at 10 a.m., the Rules Committee (which, at this point, is Chris Daly and Bevan Dufty) will be getting together to discuss proposed appointments to the Historical Preservation Commission and the Small Business Commission.
They'll also discuss a measure to keep the current taxi fares and "gate cap" fee and scrap a scheduled increase in both. I have to admit, I didn't see this coming.

I cannot imagine a board without Aaron Peskin, Jake McGoldrick and Gerardo Sandoval - let alone Tom Ammiano. As the old board reaches its end and transitions to the new this week, I find myself hoping that - like a bad sitcom - our departing cast members will come back as guest stars doing walk-on appearances.
Maybe the new board will be discussing a bill to put some historic sea otter habitat up for development, and then Aaron Peskin will walk in (to thunderous applause)
If there were ever a week when nobody gave a damn about local government -- this is it.
Today, of course, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so all city officials are staying home to have dreams.
Tomorrow is Barack Obama's inauguration, when he will save us all.
This week, David Chiu doesn't seem like such a big deal.
Still, a few meetings are happening, and I suppose we ought to pay attention on the off chance that everything isn't better by Wednesday.

Last week's revelation that the city's 311 call center charges MUNI almost $2 every time someone asks them to look up a bus schedule was like blogger crack. Not a single San Francisco political blogger had sex last week because they were all too busy telling their partners about it.
