p> Author of more than 50 books that span many literary genres, including science fiction, speculative fiction, poetry, children's literature and nonfiction, and one of the most celebrated fiction writers of our time, Margaret Atwood will be in town Thursday as part of City Arts & Lectures' "On Arts" series. The author has twice won the Governor General's Award and has received the Booker Prize, for which she's been nominated on five occasions, and is a member of The Royal Society of Canada, The Order of Ontario, and The Order of Canada, a fellowship that "recognizes the achievement of outstanding merit or distinguished service by Canadians who made a major difference to Canada through lifelong contributions in every field of endeavour." Her new book, MaddAddam, is the final installment of her dystopian, apocalyptic Oryx and Crake trilogy, and bears the Atwood signatures: superbly crafted prose and a keen imagination of the not-too-far-out future. She will be in conversation with Frances Phillips.
