Tightrope Walking at Lands End

It's hard to tell whether highwire-walker Ryan Robinson had permission to tiptoe across a rope, surreptitiously strung between two outcroppings of rocks, somewhere near Lands End, on the northwestern edge of San Francisco. But a video of Robinson's antics, which circulated through the blogosphere in January, was most likely captured by helicopter. It shows that Robinson's rope is within eyeshot of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Sutro Baths; that it overlooks a jagged, moss-covered escarpment and a rippling bay; that watching him slink across the wire-thin rope is harrowing, even on video. All we can say is: If you have the same level of derring-do, but less talent than Robinson, please don't try this yourself.
