You can get a Scotch flight at Bourbon and Branch, a rum flight at Hobson's Choice, three whiskey flights at any one time at Southpaw BBQ, and flights of wine and IPA just about anywhere. We endorse them all, because flights make being discriminating lots more fun. But it's the beignet flight at Brenda's French Soul Food that triumphs, hands down. A hybrid between a doughnut and a fancy Hot Pocket, the four beignets — plain, chocolate, Granny Smith apple and the inimitable crawfish — are a required start to brunch, as mandatory as the watermelon iced tea. And they lead to the best worst feeling in the world: Oh crap, I'm full, and my shrimp & grits hasn't even arrived.
