Black Rock City

Wednesday, Oct 28 2009
Afro-Punk is on. It's an explosion of young, talented, alternative African-Americans. "[People have] gathered around this idea that you can be Black and different," says Trace magazine's Claude Grunitzky in an MTV video clip about the organization, named after James Spooner's independent documentary of the same name. Credited with encouraging the success of Santigold, TV on the Radio, and the Noisettes, the movement/group/hothothot is, simply, on. So say it with us: "I want some." Tonight, Afro-Punk presents Saul Williams and American Fangs.
