By Hook or by Book

Wednesday, Nov 7 2012
In our digital age, it’s easy to think of the library as a quaint reflection of a simpler time when paper ruled readers and newspapers ruled the news, but nothing could be further from the truth. The San Francisco Public Library has changed with the technology, while staying true to its mission of providing access to information at little or no cost. In addition to checking out paper books, you can text conundrums to librarians, get free homework help (even at the college level), check out e-books, CDs, and DVDs, and even borrow laptops at most branches. As long as there are stories to be told, the library will be there to help you find them. Today, the library offers a chance to make some of your own stories with "The Art of Storytelling." This class uses improvisation and vocal exercises to help adults learn storytelling skills, and is taught by self-proclaimed Queen of Procrastination and certified Laughter Yoga Trainer Bev Bender.
