Joan of Arc: Show Preview

Wednesday, Sep 25 2013

Truthfully, it's hard to know what you're going to get with Joan of Arc. Nineties emo kids will remember the Chicagoans fondly as purveyors of introspective, complex and self-referential explorations. But in later years, Joan of Arc stretched itself further into the realms of abstraction, experimentation, and electronic weirdness. The band's elusive nature is compounded by the fact that it is prolific to the point of being hard to keep up with. Today, frontman Tim Kinsella is the only original member left, but his pained vocals remain the thread that ties the dissonant and cerebral nature of Joan of Arc's erratic sounds together. If you're in the mood to give your ears and brain a workout, you don't want to miss this.
