Low, Bachelorette, Great American Music Hall

Wednesday, Sep 14 2011

After 17 years, Duluth, Minn. band Low is still only one letter away from how most people would describe its sound: "slow." From 1994 debut I Could Live in Hope to 2011's C'mon, Low has rarely strayed from the plodding, barren post-rock that has become known as slowcore. The band has, however, inspired two Robert Plant covers, dressed up as the Misfits at a Halloween show, and played an acoustic version of "Hey Ya." It may miss many of the loud crescendos of post-rock contemporaries like Explosions in the Sky, but Low's nine albums of driving drums and reverb-soaked guitars have given the band plenty of material for its acclaimed live performances.
