Pomplamoose: Show Preview

Wednesday, Dec 29 2010

Call their songs whatever you want — covers, reinterpretations, rip-offs — but with their YouTubed recreations of pop hits like Beyoncé's "Single Ladies," Marin couple Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte of Pomplamoose have created a genuine Internet phenomenon. Working within set parameters (mainly, that every instrument used in a song is shown in the video at some point), their self-produced and played songs rival the polish of million-dollar studios despite coming from what is essentially an instrument-stuffed bedroom. Their fledging project has become a business, too: with 2 to 6 million YouTube views for most of their videos, Dawn and Conte earn a comfortable living from the Internet's free video behemoth.
