Princess Lay-Ya

Wednesday, Aug 15 2007
If you like inebriated punk chicks, electrified ukuleles, G.G. Allin covers, violent conga drums, and really messed-up traditional Hawaiian songs ... then Pineapple Princess is your idea of heaven, friend. Former bass player for Bay Area punk favorites the Loudmouths, Beth Allen had so much fun at her birthday party last year that she bullied the exact same bands into playing again this year. But it's her own insane trio -- the one with those electrified ukuleles -- that excites us the most, even though one of the other bands, the Go-Going-Gone Girls, not only features women doing the Frug on custom dance pedestals but is also coming out of retirement just for this show. "We Suck," and "Buzz, Buzz (the Vibrator Song)" are some of Pineapple Princess' originals, but expect screams from the audience for the group to play the world's fiercest rendition of "Tiny Bubbles."
