Quinn DeVeaux: Show Preview

Woe to those who've no room in their souls for soul — the old-school, good-feelin'-bad kind of music in which San Francisco's Quinn DeVeaux specializes. His songs come across like a '63 T-Bird gliding down the street: big, resplendent, and proudly of another time. DeVeaux's studio toils of late have produced not one but two new albums: Originals, an energetic set of songs penned for his band, the Blue Beat Review; and Late Night Drive, a more subdued collection on which DeVeaux handles the singing and most of the accompaniment himself. He'll celebrate both this Saturday, a few days before their release, with a few like-minded local friends at Great American Music Hall. Anyone with even the merest taste for swinging old-time American R&B should find a good time.
