Swoon as Surefire Sound puts Jones and Kennedy on a loaded bill with dubstep and glitch experts XI and Epcot on Saturday, April 30, at Public Works. 9 p.m., $12; www.publicsf.com.
U.K. producer Dave Jones' many aliases have marked major evolutions in bass-heavy electronic music. As Zed Bias he added a sophisticated twist to late-'90s garage tracks, while his Maddslinky and Phuturistix productions married rich jazz and vocal riffs with taut, technical beats. His 2010 album, Make a Change, was heaped with acclaim for uniting myriad underground dance genres with stylish songwriting. No doubt he has influenced relative newcomer David Kennedy, whose Ramadanman and Pearson Sound projects have shown equal disregard for genre conventions but similar creative precision. Whether he's making funky house, dubstep, or techno, Kennedy seems to find an arresting, irresistible formula.
