Retweeting

Are we, as a nation, depressed? Or are we becoming laugh connoisseurs in a joy-based world? Tonight’s lineup of dudes offers you an enjoyable range of stand-up styles, from the classic delivery of Joe DeRosa to the absurdist not-gonna-take-it-anymore skewering of Joe Mande. If you are a fan of websites, maybe you’ve checked out locally grown social connection hub Twitter. Ol' Joe Mande has used Twitter to one of its best ends, which is to harass corporations and politicians just gettin’ in touch with regular people. Mind-blowing though it may be, Hellmann’s mayonnaise has an account, and they’re closing in on 600 followers. We feel Hellmann’s to be a deeply brilliant mayonnaise, but wow! It just doesn’t feel right. In a world where we have so little control over how corporations commandeer our visual field and brain space, it's reassuring to have smart minds like Mande's responding to the inane inquiries and casual banter of big business acting like folks. Tonight’s show delivers the laughs you desire and the rebellion you crave.

Joe Mande and Sammy Obeid open.
