Romanowski

Party in My Pants

Despite rolling with Future Primitive Sound (a visible local crew with a Lower Haight music and art boutique that hosts exciting and genre-bending club nights), Romanowski remains one of S.F.'s more underrated DJ talents. There are a number of reasons for this, but chief among them is that Romanowski doesn't pander to fleeting trends, instead preferring to hone his individuality, exploring the connections among rocksteady, rarefied funk grooves, and hip hop. Party in My Pants is his second EP of original productions, though it flows like a lively DJ set. The EP is at its craziest on "ETs Phone Bill," where a computerized voice puts a twist on normal party chants: "Don't stop the Planet Rock/ Mr. Spock has a big, fat ...." Then there's the wicked bounce of the Middle Eastern-flavored closer, which bears the absurdly funny moniker "Taliban Rockers." You never really know what you'll find in the pockets of Romanowski's pants, but chances are it will be something fun.
