Sister Crayon: Show Preview

The story of how Sacramento's Sister Crayon got its name is as splendidly mysterious as the band's sound itself. Back in the days when the project was Terra Lopez's solo gig and called Silent and Clementine, an inebriated Lopez once decided that it would be a good idea to pen a letter to Bianca from CocoRosie. For a reason she still doesn't seem to know, she signed the letter "Sister Crayon," and began using the moniker for her music shortly thereafter. Now a four-piece, the act's indie-rock and trip-hop features twinkling synth lines, cascading guitars, and Lopez's airy, occasionally sultry voice unfolding like a futuristic daydream. Bellow, the band's full-length debut, was released in February — we hope all random occurrences from here on out will foreshadow good things.
