My colleague at the Village Voice, Rob Harvilla, recently wrote that the new Jean Grae album, Jeanius, is a "a mesmerizing ghost-town of classic funk/soul echoes." He also wrote that Grae, fed up with the music industry, has threatened to quit the biz, via her MySpace page.
Your can read Rob's longer description of the life of Jean Grae (and a Q&A with the New York songstress here) and see for yourself whether this talented woman, who worked with 9th Wonder on this new release, is on her way out. Jenius is indeed a sexy, soulful album -- check out the lusty ode "Love Thirst," where Grea raps "you ain't even done first, baby, when I done burst, crazy" and decide for yourself whether this is a woman who needs to, ahem, be on top. -- Jennifer Maerz
