"Knight Watch" by Greg Craola Simkins
If there was one artist that I wish I had bought some work from early on, it's Craola. Not only because I am a huge fan of his work, but it's also because his art now sells out in minutes and is far too much for this college boy to afford. Luckily, he often has prints of his work and they are always top notch. This new one looks to be the best so far. It's from a painting that will be in his upcoming solo show at the Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. The print is a giclee on stretched canvas, limited to 30 and is a massive 24" x 36". The print will be released at the show this November 6th, or you can call (323) 937-7088 to get it that day. Good luck! Get It Here.
"StarChild" by Ron English
There is a good chance you have seen the work of Ron English, either on a billboard that he "liberated," Morgan Spurlock's "Super-Size Me" documentary, or the "Abraham Obama" painting that has been seen on every political site possible. He is a prolific painter and to be quite honest, one that I never went out of my way to see. This all changed however when I saw his current show at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. Even though the work is Kiss-inspired, the level of mastery in each one is unbelievable. I am now a huge fan of his work, and will always be on the lookout for new work from him. I liked the idea of him re-imagining classical works and saw that he has prints from some previous ones that he has done. This print is 24" x 36" and is one of the Kiss-inspired ones that he has made before this current show. The best part of this print is that it is under $50. Well worth the quality and imagery that this artist brings.
"Opium" by Ken Garduno
After meeting Ken at the A.P.E. this past weekend, I figured it would be a great time to show one of his prints. He will also be in a group show at the Gallery 1988 in San Francisco this weekend, but I am not quite sure if he will have any prints there. This print is on Somerset Velvet paper and is is 11" x 14" in an edition of only 10. The print is from A Paper Tiger, and if it is anything like some of their other prints, it is sure to look amazing. Get It Here.
"Awakening" by Brendan Monroe
Berkeley-based artist Brendan Monroe has just released his latest letter press print. He has a great sense of style and it works for this tri-color letter press quite well. The print is 8" x 10" on Rives BFK gray paper. This paper has a cloth like feel to it, and makes anything printed on it look spectacular, especially when it's art like Brendan's. The print is limited to 100 and is priced at $50. Get It Here .
"I surrender" by Wayne Coyne
Not only is Wayne Coyne the lead singer of the Flaming Lips, but also a very talented painter. If you're a fan of the band, then you may have heard that the "Christmas on Mars" film will be released November 11th, and to go along with this I thought it would be cool to feature a print of one of Wayne's paintings. His work is very colorful, energetic and a blast to look at. The print is 18" x 24" and is on heavy stock. Get It Here.
