Considering the artists that the Rondo Brothers have worked with--Dan The Automator, Mike Patton, Loquat, etc.--it's easy to imagine their LastNiteRuled residency at Coda in the Mission living up to its name. Housed in the newish "jazz supper club" that took over the space vacated by Levende Lounge, LastNiteRuled is spending every Wednesday through April putting the humpty back in hump day. Or not.

"It depends on the audience, but it can get really minimal and cool/John Cage-esque, or be more of a party vibe because people are dancing," says "Diamond" Jim Greer, who records and produces under the Rondo Brothers name with Brandon "The Bastard Prince" Arnovick. "We just keep it flowing and mix keys, drum machines, and other instruments into the DJ set. Since we are musicians and not turntablists, it's our own way of lending a performance aspect to a DJ sort of vibe."

Expect to hear a preview of the Rondos' forthcoming third album, The Foreign Globester, which includes guests MC Lars, Poach Stevens, and Motion Man. "Motion Man showed up and recorded the title track and called it 'Foreign Globester,' and we realized he had invented the concept for the whole album," says Greer of the disc that Oglio Records is putting out in June. "The Globester is a world traveler, an observer, a life-liver, a seeker. He is the result of the world shrinking."

He's also hungry, and the Rondos plan to feed him at LastNiteRuled with cupcakes from Arnovick's fledgling Mission Minis bakery.
