In the time it took you to sneeze, John Dwyer has probably written a new song. In the time it took you to kill that cold, his band Thee Oh Sees has probably wrapped a new record. Last year these garage psych-os felled a lot of vinyl between full-lengths Help and Dog Poison, and numerous splits and singles. Now the band is announcing another adrenaline-boost/acid-flashback on CD and LP in Warm Slime, an album boasting a 14-minute (!) title track.

This new Warm Slime single, "I Was Denied," is more typical Oh Sees style, boosting the nervous system for right around the three-minute mark. The song starts out in Dwyer's reverb-drenched dreamstate, as he repeats a line about flying off into the night and getting fucked up. Around him Thee Oh Sees build an excited clatter until the middle climax, where the theatrical frontman parts the space coaster sound effects to start his story all over again.

Thee Oh Sees don't always go for the pop side of things, but this single is supremely catchy at its core--offering just the sorta quick hit that should move copies of the upcoming full-length from In the Red, out May 11.
