The lineup for this year's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival -- the free, three-day mega-bash that brings great artists of all sorts to Golden Gate Park -- hasn't yet been announced. Rumors have been swooshing through the tubes about this year's bill, with no official confirmation. But we heard it from the folks putting on the festival that the photo slide show on the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass website consists of artists who've so far been confirmed to play. The full list of those artists is after the jump, but a few of the highlights are Patti Smith, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, The Avett Brothers, and Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass runs October 1, 2, and 3 this year -- its 10th anniversary. The sprawling festival is a gift to the Bay Area from billionaire investor, bluegrass lover, and banjo picker Warren Hellman. Which is pretty rad.

Obviously, we'll post the full lineup when it's official. In the meantime, here are a few of the artists performing at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2010. (With hat tip to No Depression, which sussed this out a couple of weeks ago.)

Patti Smith
Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings
Carolina Chocolate Drops
Felice Brothers
Peter Himmelman
Trombone Shorty and New Orleans Avenue
David Grisman Quintet
Justin Townes Earle
Kelly Willis
Roseanne Cash
Del McCoury
Hazel Dickens
Doc Watson
David Holt
Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands
Kevin Welch, Kieran Kane & Fats Kaplin
18 South (Hardly Strictly Staff say they're not on the bill.)
Dry Branch Fire Squad
The Wronglers

Plus, the regulars:
Emmylou Harris
Steve Earle
Earl Scruggs

Should be a great 10th anniversary party.

Blue skies meet redwood canopies in the mountain town of Felton, located just north of Santa Cruz on Highway 9. Once a bustling logging community, the town is now a mix of mellow locals and serene wilderness. Visitors can enjoy the redwoods in nearby Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park and splash in swimming holes in the San Lorenzo River.
