Retired actress and former comic Holly Horn plans to open a comedy club, bar, and restaurant in the historic Don Lee Building in San Francisco.

Opening night for the venue, Holly's Comedy Club, is set for Nov. 4 with comedian David Crowe headlining, according to a news release dated Oct. 14.

"It's been my dream for the last 30 years to open my own comedy club," Horn said in the release.

The club will seat 200 people and share the building at 1000 Van Ness with the AMC Van Ness 14 movie theaters.

It will be open Monday through Saturday, according to the release, with specific nights set aside for open-mic events, improv and sketch comedy, and local performers.

The restaurant will offer a small menu of items including turkey, beef, and tuna sliders, as well as omelets. During happy hour, the bar will offer a popcorn bar. Humor-laden cocktails include the Smoke & Mirrors Martini (delivered with dry ice) and Three Sheets to the Wind (served in a wobbly glass).

Horn's partner in the venture is Kjell Qvale, who owns British Motor Car Distributors across the street from the building and has an extensive background in development and distribution of European autos. Qvale was also an executive at Golden Gate Fields.

Horn stressed that she wanted to establish an independent venue for comedy in San Francisco. The city's two other main comedy clubs, the Punch Line and Cobb's, are both affiliated with Live Nation.
