Just how did the National's latest album, High Violet, shoot so high up the Billboard charts when it was released this spring? Are the members of this dramatic Cincinnati-via-Brooklyn band as dreary as their music might seem? And who did they want to see at Treasure Island Music Festival? We tried to answer all these questions and more in a quick video interview with the boys this past Sunday. Watch our conversation with the National after the jump.

Here are the National's founding members Bryce and Aaron Dessner on their latest album, their tour plans, and which bands they enjoyed seeing at Treasure Island. Videography and editing by the expert Jason Jurgens.
