You should know about Sub Swara, an electronic duo from New York that performs Friday at Public Works. Named after a club night that Dhruva and Dave Sharma started in the Big Apple -- which went on to feature sets by Mary Anne Hobbs and Bassnectar, among others -- the outfit now specializes in a whatever-makes-you-bang style of bass music that's fresh and compelling, and doesn't pay much mind to the lines of electronic sub-genres. Download some of this amazing madness after the jump.

First up, we've got a track called "Steam" from Sub Swara's latest album, Triggers (out November 9). This flits from ominous, exotic hand-drumming into a more traditional techno beat, then goes all dubstep on your ass. Dhruva and Sharma make this stuff with the help of real instruments -- they recorded the drums for this song in India -- so it's not surprising that their sound goes beyond what you expect to hear in "electronic" music.

Next up is a new mixtape, Triggers Vol. 1, which features tracks the duo plays in its live sets -- the members' own stuff and others. Can you find the Charles Mingus bassline?
