It's been a dark year for Oakland hip-hop -- at least judging from the videos. The latest in a string of WTF-is-going-on-in-this-town rhymes comes from none other than the former prince of hyphy, Mistah Fab. Over dramatic strings and a stuttering beat, his "My City Needs Me" laments the murders, the pimps, the missing children, the poverty -- it's no advertisement for Ron Dellums' Oakland. Key lyric: "I come from a city with absolutely nothing." Watch it after the jump.

Here it is, Fab's newest video, "My City Needs Me." Call it the rapper's style of social service. And man, are those happy days of hyphy long gone.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas. Then there was the comfort foods we've grown accustomed to, like creme bruleé, shrimp rolls, and pound cake. Photographs by Mabel Jimenez.
