Surprise! Metallica and Nirvana fans are more likely to have sex on a first date, while those who like Coldplay and Adele are the least likely to go all the way.
Those are the findings of a not-entirely-scientific survey by online dating site Tastebuds
, which matches romantic partners based on the music they like. The site, which we profiled last year
, asked all of 400 users how far they would go on a first date. Possible answers included "I'd only meet up for a chat" and "I'd go all the way if the mood was right."
Anonymous data thus collected, the site's managers then sorted the data by users' musical preference. The result? As anyone could have told you, Coldplay fans are frigid. Meanwhile, fans of Bay Area metal titans Metallica and grunge legends Nirvana are positively randy.
Other artists whose fans would probably screw after a brief hello: Linkin Park, Gorillaz, and Kanye West. Musicians whose fans are more reserved include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Kings of Leon.
We might suggest a confounding factor here: Is it possible that men -- who would fuck a toaster if it winked at them -- are more likely to enjoy brash music like Linkin Park and Metallica, while more respectable females enjoy Coldplay and Adele?
Maybe, maybe not. We can't really take this survey as much more than a marketing ploy from a website eager for attention. But it might explain why we've seen more dudes yelling for women to take their tops off at Metallica concerts than anywhere outside of a strip club.
