One '90s Reunion That Won't Happen: The Smashing Pumpkins

This '90s revival thing is off the hook. Even Soundgarden is getting back together after 14 years to drive around the U.S. and blast old, loud-ass songs like "Spoonman" and "Fell on Black Days" to apparently eager audiences.

But there's one big '90s rock band that won't be getting back together -- uh, besides Nirvana: The Smashing Pumpkins.

Billy Corgan may still be putting out (weak) music with all new peeps under that beloved moniker, but he says the possibility of a reunion with the original members is out of the question.

From Corgan's recent interview with Rolling Stone:

Could the original Pumpkins line-up ever reunite?

No. That's just one of those things that are never going to happen. If you don't see somebody for a while, there's the old thing, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." Well, we haven't had absence. The things that have happened between us in the interim haven't been good. There's been lawsuits and lots of stupid stuff. It's only made it worse. If it was bad before, it's really bad now. Jimmy [Chamberlin] and I aren't enemies - he's just off doing what he wants to do, as he should. There's not super bad blood between me and Jimmy that we'd never get on stage again. But I cannot in any way, shape, or form ever envision standing on a stage, playing music again with James [Iha] and D'arcy [Wretzky]. I just don't see any situation where that would be possible.

Of course, as Stereogum points out, D'Arcy has other stuff going on these days. But still, Corgan's insistence that a Pumpkins reunion will never happen is disappointing -- not that he'd be the first to insist a reunion is impossible only to take his words back when the royalty money runs dry. But given his current pace of obnoxious behavior, will anyone still tolerate listening to Billy Corgan in 20 years?

Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas.
