Local music bloggers Peter Arko (Ears of the Beholder) and Robert Khoury (See The Leaves) had an idea: Put out a series of compilations of the best bands from various cities. Naturally, they started with home -- San Francisco -- for the first release on City Limits Records. The comp, which you can stream for free, download, or order on vinyl, contains music from local faves like Maus Haus, The Sandwitches, Tim Cohen (of the Fresh & Onlys), Young Prisms, The Soft Moon, Skeletal System, and more. It comes out today -- and naturally, there's a big show at Milk Bar tonight to celebrate.

Guess who's playing? Not every band on the comp, but many:

Maus Haus

Exray's

The Sandwitches

Fiveng

Kites Sail High

and Skeletal System's Ander will be DJing.

The show starts at 8 p.m., and the door is $10. It's pretty much gotta be a good time. If you preordered the vinyl, you can pick it up there (or buy one if you didn't.)

Akro's Ears of the Beholder blog is also putting on a daytime show tomorrow at El Rio featuring Blackbird Blackbird, Phantom Kicks, Old Arc, and Yalls. It starts at 4 p.m. and costs $8 -- but includes food.

So, there's the start of your local music-filled weekend, eh?
