Green Day To Sing "About Fucking" on New Album

So what is Green Day up to in a world where Obama is president (for a little while, at least) and the U.S. is extricating itself from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Well, besides playing surprise shows in small venues like S.F.'s Mezzanine, and bringing the Broadway musical version of American Idiot back to San Francisco, it seems Billie Joe Armstrong and Co. have been working on a new studio album -- and finding inspiration in the bedroom.

Armstrong tweeted last month that the band had begun recording a followup to 2009's 21st Century Breakdown. And in a 35-second video posted to Green Day's YouTube page -- initially spotted by NME and later reposted by SPIN -- we learn a little about what the new album will be like.

"It's so personal, and it is so voyeuristic, and this is the first time we've ever really sung about fucking," Armstrong's voice says in the video, which shows shots of the band members working and hanging out at their Oakland studio.

Armstrong's "Valantine's Day" tweet also appears to reference a song by the band's alter-ego, Foxboro Hot Tubs, called "Fuck Time," which you can watch below.

So will the new album be a collection of slow jams? We doubt it. But then, almost anything would be a nice change from Green Day's two Bush-era albums of bloated arena rock.
