There are few more undignified actions in the world than regurgitating the contents of your stomach in public: The watering eyes, the full-body-gag, the blowing of chunks. Even when we do it alone, we feel slightly embarrassed. So pity poor Lady Gaga, who hurled all over her own stage in Barcelona this week. We'd make a joke about the fact that she has the word "gag" in her name, but we're so impressed with how well she kept her shit together under the circumstances, we're just going to leave it. She's not the first star to hurl mid-performance, and she won't be the last. Here, then, are our Top five on-stage pukers.
5. The Biebs
Hey, y'know -- Justin Bieber makes us want to vomit too, so we're surprised this didn't happen way sooner. (And being him must be a real nausea fest!) Mostly though, we like this onstage puke because it proves once and for all that Justin Bieber is a Real Boy. We'd spent the last few years assuming he was a Stepford Wives-type superrobot, invented to exert mind control over the nation's tween females. Hey! Our bad! The Biebs blows chunks too. Nobody's perfect, ladies. Nobody's perfect.
Rihanna was the first to start the in-concert pop-puker trend, when she had to run offstage in Portugal at the end of last year to hurl. The reason we like her effort better than Bieber's though is that the lady could've maintained her dignity on the subject (she got off in time, after all), but opted instead to Tweet about it so the world would know about the up-chuck incident: "Yep! I ran offstage to throw up, halfway thru Whats My Name..." she said. Sharing is caring, people. Sharing is caring.
3. Taylor Momsen, The Pretty Reckless
We never thought we'd have any respect for Taylor Momsen. Like, none whatsoever. But the above video, taken at a 2010 Bamboozle Festival date, changed everything forever. As you can see, girl does brutal battle with a throat full of vomit and girl effing wins. Repeatedly. And keeps goddamn singing. It's seriously impressive. She later told the BBC: "I was spewing in my mouth and swallowing it back down and I kept turning around and singing." Attagirl, Taylor. This is an onstage puke that no one else had to suffer through but you. And we thank you for that.
