Bay Area jam outfitFurthur just announced that it will cancel its set at next week's Bottle Rock Napa Valley music festival in the wake of frontman Bob Weir's onstage collapse. The band, which features Grateful Dead co-founders Weir and Phil Lesh, had been scheduled to headline the first night of Bottle Rock on Thursday, May 9. No replacement act has been announced.

Weir collapsed during a Futhur gig in Port Chester, N.Y. last Thursday night, but appeared to be fine during an Atlantic City show two days later. A statement released today, however, says Weir will not be able to perform for several weeks:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Furthur regretfully will be unable to appear as scheduled at BottleRock Napa Valley on Thursday, May 9. Grateful Dead & Furthur Co-Founder Bob Weir, is unable to perform in any capacity for the next several weeks. Bob looks forward to resuming his "Weir Here" broadcasts from TRI Studios in mid to late June and performing his Solo acoustic shows June 26-30.

Furthur featuring Phil Lesh & Bob Weir look forward to returning to the road as scheduled on July 11 in Brooklyn for their Summer tour, which carries them through early October on the West Coast.

No word yet on whether Bottle Rock will announce a replacement headliner for Furthur.
