It's never too early to start thinking about the weekend. And this weekend, we're excited about Phono Del Sol, the annual one-day music festival in Portrero Del Sol Park organized by local music blog the Bay Bridged. The lineup this year is excellent, and we can prove it. Here are our picks for the five best songs you're likely to hear at Saturday's outdoor concert, with a slight bias toward these artists' newest releases. Keep in mind this represents only a small number of the acts playing, let alone the number of songs you'll hear.

Thee Oh Sees, "Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster" The bruising second track off Thee Oh Sees' latest album, Floating Coffin, "Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster" illustrates the San Francisco band's mastery of energy and dynamics. The video is of course equally brutal. YACHT, "Second Summer" This one is pretty much guaranteed to get you off your blanket and dancing. Here's hoping the daylight performance doesn't keep YACHT from unleashing some of their notoriously dazzling visuals. Marnie Stern, "You Don't Turn Down" This isn't just a song; it's a mantra, a guide to life. Say it three times slowly in you mind while blasting this song through headphones: You. Don't. Turn. Down. Cool Ghouls, "Natural Life"

A charming jalopy of a pop song, like an old weathered Volvo you wanna drive until the wheels fall off, this single from S.F.'s Cool Ghouls shows a young band with a ear for a big, grin-inducing hook. Painted Palms, "Hypnotic" The first track off the band's new EP from last month, "Hypnotic" finds Painted Palms building a kind of clattering sonic casserole -- but always in service to the rhythm. The band members tagged this one "headphone music," but it should sound pretty good live in the park, too. -- @iPORT
