Deltron 3030, the indie-rap supergroup starring Del The Funkee Homosapien, is back this year, with a new album coming out Oct. 1. For fans of Del, Dan the Automator, and Kid Koala -- and of the futuristic battles described on Deltron's sole 2000 album -- this is excellent news. Out today is the video for "City Rising From the Ashes," which features fellow hypertalented local weirdo Mike Patton (albeit in some capacity we can't quite discern). This is definitely a Deltron song: muscular bass, string-and-brass-section grandiosity, scratching everywhere, and Del weaving his way around the beat in that confident baritone, with no pauses or proper hooks in sight. The Eve Martin and Nicolas Bueno-directed video is itself something to behold, a mini-epic in CGI with gorgeous settings and details. So hit play already:

Deltron 3030, remember, is playing at Rock the Bells, the two-day hip-hop extravaganza that takes place this weekend at Shoreline.
