The mostly residential Noriega Street in the Outer Sunset comes to an end at Ocean Beach, a few blocks before which is an outcropping of small businesses. Often overshadowed by neighboring Judah Street, this slice of the Sunset has a distinct beach vibe and a slow pace resides over the cafes, restaurants and shops. Why hurry when you can stroll, enjoy coastal cuisine, and watch the sunset from dunes above the ocean?

Devil’s Teeth Baking Company (3876 Noriega): Opened by lawyer and baker Hilary Passman Cherniss, the bakery is a destination for both neighbors and outsiders. Offering breakfast, lunch and sweets, the menu never disappoints. Two of the most popular items are the breakfast sandwich, a hardy biscuit filled with egg, cheese, and bacon, and the cinnamon roll. Passman Cherniss' husband SFPD Lte. Jason Cherniss, advises heating up the cinnamon roll for best enjoyment. Lounge with your fresh beignets (Sundays only) and coffee in the sun (yes there is sun in the sunset) outside in a wooden parklet designed by surfer and architect Shane Curnyn, where you can practically feel the sand beneath your toes.

Establish (3811 Noriega): An art boutique with vintage and handmade clothing, jewelry, and treasures. Owners Sara Stockalper and Erica Maver founded the store on a shared style and vision that blends art, beach and travel culture. The store is made up of "interesting kinds of things that inspire us," Stockalper said. She and Maver stock the store with locally made and fair trade products, and make about 25 percent of the merchandise themselves, including scarfs, bags, and jewelry. Establish displays work from a new artist about every six weeks, as well as hosts movie nights.

Coast Wine Bar (3815 Noriega): Coffee bar by day and wine bar by early afternoon, serving fresh oysters and cheese plates as well as an all-coastal selection of wine and beer handpicked by owner Christina Jannell. Opened in September 2012, the bar looks forward to wholesome food selections in the future. Wednesday nights feature live jazz and Tuesdays are trivia nights.

The Pizza Place on Noriega (3901 Noriega): Boston-style pizza made in a brick oven served the West Coast way in a family-friendly setting. Slices and pies are made to order, and the menu includes specialty pizzas with names such as The Spicoli — "who ordered the double cheese and sausage?" — or the Sunset Aloha with coppacola and pineapple. Gluten-free and vegan pizzas are also available.

Noriega Produce (3821 Noriega): Before you catch that sunset on the beach, stop in here for conveniently located picnic snack. The market offers a large selection of specialty cheeses, including cow, goat, and sheep cheeses, from local creameries and around the world. Complete your picnic with crackers, fruit, and wine.
