Scenes from the S.F. Homeless Count 2011

1 of 13

The city of San Francisco conducted its biennial homeless count last night, an undertaking that must be done in order for the city to receive federal funds for homeless services. A group of largely volunteers are given pre-mapped routes that they then drive or walk, counting the homeless they see.

Photographer, Gil Riego, Jr., was paired with Dr. Rajesh Parekh, director of the Homeless Outreach Team, and volunteer David Nakanishi.
