Four hours east of San Francisco is Bodie, once a thriving Gold Rush town now a curious ghost town that attracts some 200,000 visitors annually. With no more than 200 buildings remaining, tourists drive from all over the state allured by the remnants of this "arrested decay." The town, which is now a California Historical Landmark, was once rich in wealth and crime, earning the moniker " The Bad Men of Bodie." Photographs by Erin Sherbert.
