Tired of being treated like third-class citizens, zombies of the world rose up and demanded their civil rights on the steps of San Francisco City Hall Friday night. Many a zombie supporter was in attendance as well. Photos by Hanna Quevedo.

Wow, way to belittle the struggle for civil rights! Good Job! Lets evict you from your houses or fire you from your jobs by way of discriminatory policies and see how funny it is.

I don't think they were belittling civil rights at all, just being creative and fun. That's what I love about San Francisco. You can be who you want and do what you want without being judged. Well, except by the two cheese weenies who made the first two comments. :)

Thank you, right-wing people dressed as zombies, for mocking people who demand equal rights from their government. Whether or not that was your intention, that is the effect when you stage a satirical equal rights protest. I know you were just being funny, or maybe ironic, but at whose expense? Your little flash mob antics, whose purpose is to be ignored by officials, are basically saying that ALL equal rights protest aught be ignored.

Give the rest of us a break, grow up, and do something constructive with your time.

And as for Mike's comment, well, you might as well have stopped at "I don't think." Many San Franciscans would be well-served to acknowledge (or be made aware) that their actions, as creative or fun as they may be, can have consequences.

I agree Ian, at first I thought it was funny - zombie rights, haha. But then after thinking about it, its only purpose could be to diminish civil rights. Political satire has a message, and there was no useful message to this - unless your a right wing wacko! (and I'm assuming, or hoping, that those zombie weren't actual Republicans in SF - GASP, worse than zombies~!!!)

Look up your zombie history, people, and then get over yourselves and get off your high horses. Zombie movies and media have been political, social, and racial critiques (see Night of the Living Dead). Maybe we should make a zombie movie about enlightened progressives who are ready to judge anything that doesn't fit into their own single idea of progressive. Get over yourself.

Wow! Talk about taking things out of context. No one was trying to belittle civil rights. I'm a teacher and my boyfriend is a Native American...both liberal zombies out having a good time protesting for equal rights. Some people over-think things...see Jesus in their poo. Get a life.

Overthinking things? thinking at all is too much for this stupidity. Just because zombies have been used at some time for a valid political satire doesn't automatically make all later use valid satire. WAKE UP! Everything has a message, just think about it. OH thats right, you don't like to think. Go back to your "oh so original" creative flash mob antics (its not like this same exact zombie civil rights flash mob hasn't been done in Austin, Madison, Denver, etc. before this)
