Sand by the Ton at the American Steel Building

Oakland art collective Big Art Studio christened its new industrial space in the American Steel building with a fundraiser dubbed "Sand by the Ton," involving 200 tons of sand, five swimming pools, three live stages, carnival performers, musicians and thousands of revelers. Photos by Tim Wagner.
