The bad news is, yes, San Francisco is terrorized more than just about any city in the realm. But the good news, according to the data accumulated by the Global Terror Database, is that terrorists haven't deigned to commit mayhem here since 1997 -- an airport bombing that destroyed property but didn't kill anyone. As in this case, when terrorists do strike, they're usually inept.
In fact, the vast majority of San Francisco's terror incidents date from the Disco Era -- as perpetrators such as the Jewish Defense League, Weather Underground, and New World Liberation Front attest to.
You'd have to go back to the June 8, 1975 assassination of United Prison Union head Wilbert "Popeye" Jackson and his girlfriend, Sally Voye, to find a lethal terrorist operation undertaken in San Francisco.
That attack is pinned on "Tribal Thumb," which is apparently a splinter faction of the New World Liberation Front, and ... is not going to get you in 2010.
