'Tis the Season ... to Get Busted for Fireworks Possession

Over the past couple of weeks, three people have gotten yanked for dealing in fireworks in the Ingleside district -- boom, boom, boom.

The first bust took place on June 17 during a probation search on the 600 block of Campbell Avenue. There, the officer found 150 M-80 explosives. These aren't glorified sparklers, by the way: We're talking about 277 pounds of explosives.

When your M-80 stash outweighs a 49ers linebacker, you've got a lot of firepower.

"This year, I would say it's different in that we're getting people

with large numbers of fireworks," said Ingleside Captain Louis Cassanego. In previous years,

police have tended to pick up more people carrying fewer explosives, he

said.

On Monday around 6 p.m., officers showed up at a business on the 5,000

block of Mission Street and obtained permission to search the building.

Inside, they found 11 boxes of illegal fireworks. The party responsible

for the fireworks apparently wasn't around.

Then on Tuesday, the Ingleside Investigative Team followed up on that

case and tracked down a male suspect and his female accomplice. The

pair was discovered with nine pound of illegal fireworks on the unit

block of Seneca Street. They were arrested on charges of fireworks

possession.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas.
