It's seven rooms of gloom for Alan Young, the alleged grifter charged with impersonating Motown stars and separating San Franciscans from their dollars.

Young -- subject of a rollicking East Bay Express cover story back in 2002 when he was claiming to be Motown legend Cornelius Grant --- had purportedly told a number of locals he was singer/songwriter Lamont Dozier. After the San Francisco Police Department put out a bulletin, prompting several news articles, Young was recognized by a bartender this week.

When police arrived at the Hyde Out on Monday, a bar employee not only pointed out the wanted man, he also showed police a copy of a news article about Young (thank you, newspaper reader).

Here's a sentence you don't see every day on a police report: "Young was placed under arrest ... on several warrants for crimes committed while impersonating Motown celebrities."

As we noted before, in cases like this, the SFPD's message is clear: "Reach Out/I'll Be There."
