The sound of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver's voices could make Gandhi turn homicidal. They could make Albert Schweitzer feel like slapping underprivileged children. The two yappers would drive Julia Child to renounce French cuisine and spend her productive years making grilled cheese sandwiches in the microwave.

So, yes, the Giants are going to the World Series. But the action is being called by Buck and McCarver. Grilled cheese, anyone?

But, thanks to a benevolent use of technology, you need not have Buck or McCarver ruin your World Series experience. With the use of a few downloads and a truly informative website, local fans can listen to Miller*, Fleming, Kruk, and Kuip call the Series -- and watch it on TV at the same time.

Rather than listen to the bloviating, sanctimonious, nausea-inducing drivel from the FOX broadcasters, your humble narrator has spent the playoffs listening to the radio, then peering over  a small, muted TV in the corner to catch any great plays. Sadly, the radio and network television are a good 15 seconds out of synch; Jon Miller is calling "Adios Pelota!" for a home run on the next pitch Juan Uribe will be delivered.

This page -- Bote's Radio Delay Tips -- offers a comprehensive guide on several methods of synchronizing the radio and television. If ever you were looking for a benevolent use of the Internet -- you've found it.

Perhaps the most powerful tool to keep Buck and McCarver out of your homes is this free download from Daan Systems. It's called "Radiodelay" -- and allows you to run radio input through your television, and delay it for a period of your choosing, up to 30 seconds.

Thanks to this unforeseen boost from the Internet, Buck and McCarver can be reduced to talking to themselves -- and kept far, far away from the Giants in the World Series.

*Note: Jon Miller is calling games on ESPN radio for the World Series. Kruk, Kuip, and Flem are calling on KNBR.
