Feliciano Valencia-Santiago, the man accused of murdering a San Jose woman and dumping her body in a garbage bag, has reportedly confessed to the heinous crime.

According to media outlets, police say that during an interrogation, Valencia-Santiago admitted that he killed Maria Esther Orozco, whose body was found last week in a loosely tied garbage sack between two bushes near a Sunnyvale home on Ticonderoga Drive.

Valencia-Santiago is being charged with one count of murder and is expected to enter a plea on June 27 when he will appear in court, according to the San Jose Mercury News. He is facing 26 years to life in prison if convicted.

Police learned more about their relationship during the interview process. They had previously told reporters that Valencia-Santiago knew his victim, but to what extent still remains unclear. The two had phone conversations, and according to police reports, she had received 22 calls on June 4 -- the day before her body was found -- from a phone number that's connected to Valencia-Santiago.

Between May 2 and June 2, 2011, she had received 13 phone calls from the same number, the Merc reports.

Video surveillance taken from a Valley Transportation Authority bus shows that on June 4 Orozco got off of the bus at about 7 p.m. near  El Camino Real and Mary Avenue in Sunnyvale. Police concluded that the murder happened at at vacated home on the 800 block of Revere Drive in Sunnyvale. The home had been unoccupied since a December 2010 fire.

Valencia-Santiago had helped another resident clean up the house after the fire, police say. The house is located a less than a mile from where Orozco's body was found. She died from head trauma.

Police arrested Valencia-Santiago on Friday June 10 at about 7:30 p.m. as he rode his bike
in the area near El Camino Real and Halford in Santa Clara.
